Program Overview: The 'Global Water
Policy Dialogue 2012', to be held on 1 July 2012 at the Kent Ridge Guild House,
is jointly organized by JICA and IWP, as a co-located event of the SIWW. The aim
of the sessions is to bring together thought leaders, academics, professionals
and policy makers to share knowledge about the challenges of urban flooding and
the governance of urban water supply in Asian cities. During the morning session
of the seminar, speakers from JICA will present their work on topics including
(but not limited to) Japan's experiences in policies and programs of urban flood
disaster mitigation measures and urban watershed management for 40 years; the
development of technology tools for urban watershed management in Japan,
including structural and non-structural measures; and the Chao Phraya River
flood 2011 and future flood control plan for Thailand. In the afternoon session,
researchers from IWP will present their findings from projects titled 'Good
practices for urban water management in Asia' and 'Water governance: an
evaluation of alternative architectures', with probable launch of their upcoming
books. Each session will be followed by panel discussions facilitated by eminent
scholars. |
