Energy label scheme extended
November 14, 2013
The Electrical & Mechanical Services Department today extended the voluntary energy efficiency labelling scheme to cover gas cookers.
The department is inviting manufacturers, importers and local agents of gas cookers to apply for energy labels under the scheme. To qualify, the product should meet the scheme's energy efficiency and performance requirements.
There are now 21 types of appliances covered by the voluntary scheme, which began in 1995.
A mandatory energy efficiency labelling scheme covering five types of household appliances was introduced in 2009.
The labelling scheme promotes energy-efficient products.
