Seminar by Jutaro Kaneko: FSA's Approach for Financial Technical Cooperation

ADBI, Tokyo, Japan : 19 March 2014

The Financial Services Agency (FSA) is accelerating its activities to strengthen cooperative relationships with other Asian financial authorities to enhance financial infrastructures (e.g., laws and regulations, stock exchanges, know-how on financial policy planning and implementation). Such activities include mid- and long-term staff exchange programs through a new FSA's facility, Asia Financial Partnership Center, which will serve as a knowledge hub for financial regulators in Asia. Against this backdrop, this presentation will share the FSA's empirical findings and seek inputs on how to provide financial technical assistance in an effective and systematic manner.

APEC Financial Regulators Training Initiative: Regional Seminar on Investor and Financial Market Intermediary Education

This seminar covers four areas of financial market education -- financial literacy, investor education, building capacity through financial market intermediary education and upskilling company directors. The course examines the various models used by financial regulators in the region to deliver education and training. Participants will learn how to develop a budget for their education programs incorporating the use of IT related applications such as online programs and social media.

The types of programs that are being delivered in the region will be considered such as short course training and education programs offering a qualification. The course will then examine measures to assess the success of the programs being offered.
