2012 Global food policy report
Prepared by International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI)
This flagship report by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) examines the major food policy issues, developments and decisions of 2012. It reviews what happened in food policy and why, examines key challenges and opportunities, shares new evidence and knowledge, highlights emerging issues and suggests ways to improve food security for the poor. Issues considered in this volume include: trends in agricultural productivity and its implications for the global food supply; evolvement of the sustainable development agenda and how far behind is a green economy; integrating gender into agricultural and rural development; the possibility of the agricultural sector to offer meaningful jobs to young people in Africa; directions of the agricultural policies of the United States and the European Union, and how they differ; and different scenarios for how Brazil, China and India will influence global food security in the next 20 years or so.
