Fund mooted to boost recycling
April 11, 2014
The Government proposes launching a fund to support Hong Kong's recycling industry, Secretary for the Environment KS Wong says.
Speaking to the media today, Mr Wong said the Government is formulating details on the plan, which aims to bolster recycling output to reduce the city’s waste and relieve pressure on landfills.
The fund is initially proposed to run on a two-year-project basis. Individual companies can apply up to $5 million in funding, while project applications from industry associations can receive up to $10 million.
The Government will consult industry practitioners on the proposal, he added.
