Korea News: Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute and Korea Industrial Complex Corporation join hands to support SMES in Eco-Industrial Park (12 Nov 2013)

Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute and Korea Industrial
Complex Corporation join hands to support SMES in Eco-Industrial Park
MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT REPUBLIC OF KOREA

Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute (KEITI) and Korea Industrial Corporation (KICC) signed an MOU to support small-and medium-sized enterprises in an eco-industrial park (EIP) at the head office of KICC in Seoul on November 12.

The MOU is aimed at creating environment jobs and facilitating business opportunities for the companies to participate in the EIP project, which is expected to create quality jobs with a huge growth potential.

Major projects to be jointly conducted by KEITI and KICC are 1) supporting establishment of EIP and exchanging information on the policy needs of companies, 2) providing environmental policy financing and supporting green technology development, and 3) designating excellent environmental companies and granting green certificate for new technology.

In addition, 4) helping SMEs to export and enter foreign markets, 5) supporting green products and green management of companies including Eco-labeling, and 6) promote and provide education on EIP project for companies moving in EIP. These projects will help enhance competiveness of environmental companies and SMEs.

By encouraging companies’ participation in the project including environmental technology development and SME’s export abroad, it is expected to help the public better recognize the benefits of policy support.

KEITI will promote the environmental policy financing support project by having a nationwide presentation after signing the MOU. Both KEITI and KICC will continuously work together to boost local economy and create quality jobs in pursuit of win-win development.

An official from KEITI said that the MOU will contribute to fostering the environmental industry and creating environmental jobs by linking KEITI’s proprietary projects to those of KICC. He added that the joint cooperation will result in creating new values, which is a key goal of Government 3.0.

New Books: Frontiers of Environmental Input-Output Analysis By Shigemi Kagawa (30 Aug 2013)

Frontiers of Environmental Input-Output Analysis

By Shigemi Kagawa

Routledge – 2013
Descriptions:
Input-Output Analysis (IOA) is widely used in the field of ecological economics, industrial ecology, and environmental sciences. Industrial Ecology (IE) and Ecological Economics (EE) are promising and growing fields. IOA plays a crucial role in analyzing the related environmental and resource issues and providing quantitative information to many research questions and policy implications. The major aim of this book is to provide not only a comprehensive overview of environmental IOA from 1930s to the present but also the frontiers of environmental IOA including energy structural decomposition analysis, spatial energy structural decomposition analysis, multi-regional waste make-use analysis, augmented waste input-output analysis, dynamic structural decomposition analysis with product lifetime distributions, and endogenous input-output analysis with product lifetime distributions to professionals, practitioners, and students.
This book presents a novel dynamic structural decomposition analysis to evaluate the effects of the product lifetime shifts and structural changes such as technological changes and final demand shifts on the life cycle energy consumptions. It also contributes to modelling a simple social accounting method with cumulative product lifetime distributions and argues how product lifetime extension affects energy consumptions and income flow throughout the entire economic system.
The book demonstrates the author’s expertise in IOA and is an essential read for students and scholars in the field.

Contents:
  1. Introduction
  2. A Structural Decomposition of Energy Consumption Based on a Hybrid Rectangular Input-Output Framework
  3. A Spatial Structural Decomposition Analysis of the Chinese and Japanese Energy Demand
  4. An Empirical Analysis of Industrial Waste Embodied in the 1995 Japanese Economy
  5. A Simple Multi-Regional Input-Output Account for Waste Analysis
  6. Measuring Spatial Repercussion Effects
  7. Inter-Industry Analysis, Consumption Structure, and the Household Waste Production Structure
  8. The Economic and Environmental Consequences of Automobile Lifetime Extension and Fuel Economy Improvement
  9. Does Product Lifetime Extension Increase Our Income at the Expense of Energy Consumption?
